A Transposed-Word Effect in Chinese Reading

These are data files and R scripts for three experiments investigating the word transposition effect in Chinese. The data are from a grammaticality decision task in which participants viewed ungrammatical sentences created by transposing two words in either a grammatical or ungrammatical base sentence. These were intermixed with equal numbers of grammatical sentences. In Experiment 1, two one-character words were transposed, in Experiment 2 two two-character words were transposed and, in Experiment 3, a three-character word and a one-character word was transposed. The R code was used to analyse the error rate (using a generalised linear mixed-effects model) and latency of correct responses for these stimuli (using a linear mixed-effects model).
